This guy gets it
The guy - or gal - who created Dimmer Than Dim gets it. When you’re looking at a browser (like Google) that turns your screen into a glaring bright white assaulting your eyes, even turning the screen brightness down to the lowest level (on a Mac, at least) doesn’t cut it. Screen time at night is messing with people’s sleep cycles in a major way, and for the life of me I don’t understand why Apple and other manufacturers don’t get it.
When you absorb light your brain limits the production of the neurotransmitters (like serotonin) that naturally help your body sleep. The more light, the less serotonin. The less of serotonin, the less quantiy and quality of sleep you’re going to get. It’s that simple. So massive kudos to Dimmer Than Dim for comprehending the simple, simple fact that we don’t need to light up the night sky with our laptops - we only need as much brightness as is necessary to view material comfortably. Thank you!
